R. C. Reid

R. C. Reid - Kensington Fine Art GalleriesR.C. Reid studied sculpture in a studio that used traditional training methods. He was taught techniques of carving in stone and wood as well as clay and wax modeling and hand forging techniques used for making the various types of carving tools. The instruction was based on an approach to sculpture known as "form theory" which was developed by his teacher Alexander Weygers who worked with Lorado Taft in Chicago.

Later, while working in Cambridge, Mass. and studying at the museums, he studied anatomy, drawing and painting with Jack Kramer at his studio in the Fenway. Mr. Kramer was also a professor at the Boston Museum School of Fine Art in Boston.

R.C. Reid also has a Masters Degree in Architecture and has taught classes at the Arizona State University and at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. He currently lives in rural S. East Wisconsin, has a family of five children with his wife.

Reid states that he is "Incubating in obscurity, I paint and draw and sculpt when not spoken to, but visited, with a sense of great urgency, as the sun is burning out."

We look forward to including his sculpture and drawings on this web site in the near future.
